The National Science Policy Network Diplomacy roadshow passed by New York City on March 15, 2024, for the first time ever, and the NYUGSOM-SciPol is delighted to have participated in it.

The first stop was at the Belgian American Chamber of Commerce, led by Maxime Van Cauter, the Science-Tech-Education Counselor. Maxime took the time to explain his journey into the world of science diplomacy, the skills one needs to develop, the challenges involved, the conversations that are required with various stakeholders but most importantly, how curiosity and the intent to drive change can bring the most impactful initiatives into motion.

The second stop was at the British Consulate General where we met the Head of Science and Innovation Garrett Dunlap and had yet another chance to have insightful conversations with him.
They were thrilling sessions, where early career researchers interested in science diplomacy raised crucial questions and learnt about stepping into the world of diplomatic efforts and advocating for global progress by fostering international collaborations.

A huge vote of thanks to the National Science Policy Network, including coordinator Patricia Gruver-Barr, and the insightful Rohini Guin for allowing us to be part of this journey and bringing the NYUGSOM-SciPol network in touch with fellow science diplomat enthusiasts in the city and around, including Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory, Columbia University, Yale University, and Stony Brook University.

Had a blast at the NYU Langone Science Graphics Workshop with Matteo Farinella! 🧠✨
